Over 500 members of the medical and pharmaceutical elite participated at the Prix Galien USA inaugural ceremony, held at the festive Cipriani 42nd Street in New York on September 25th, 2007.
Emmy Award winner Charlie Rose emceed the first Galien USA Award Ceremony in New York on September 25, 2007, commenting that " the Prix Galien has been described, without exaggeration, as the industry's equivalent of the Nobel Prize."

In the presence of the Prix Galien USA 2007 Awards Committee, Roy Vagelos received the humanitarian Pro Bono Humanum Award from Elie Wiesel, in recognition of his dedication and actions to improve global health, exemplified by the campaign to eradicate River Blindness. www.mectizan.org
